Riverside
Village Breathes New Business Opportunities into Derelict Buildings
Shepherd Developments is offering a unique opportunity
to lease/purchase 499 sqm (5,376 sqft) or 130sqm (1, 404 sgft) of
prestige office accommodation with ample parking in the newly restored
Markham Works Head Office and weighbridge House, conveniently close
to the centre of Chesterfield. Following
the success of the residential elements of Riverside Village at
Hady Hill, Chesterfield, Shepherd Developments has invested in the
restoration of the two character buildings fronting the busy A632
Hady Hill.
After eight months of
intensive activity, the site is now very close to completion and
is attracting attention from businesses in South Yorkshire and North
East Derbyshire.
Shepherd Developments
purchased the property together with the adjacent former Weighbridge
House in 2000 as part of the larger site. The company then enlisted
the help of Sheffield based Architects, Escafeld Design and Contractors,
J T Construction, to ensure create a project that would see the
Grade II listed property sympathetically restored to its former
glory.
Dating back
to 1906, the former Markham Building has seen the removal of a later
extension, brick and stone cleaning, and the restoration and reproduction
of the original sash windows to complete the authentic look.
In order to attract modern businesses into this thriving area of
the town, which is a short walk from the main-line station as well
as the town centre, internally, modern office fittings have been
incorporated. These include; suspended ceilings, recessed CAT 2
lighting, new passenger lift, new toilets, disabled facilities and
carpeting. Broadband connection is also available.
Richard Squire, Development
Manager, explained: “We are delighted with the finished look,
in fact I’m very proud of having achieved a restoration that
is in keeping with its surroundings.
“Both buildings
offer the outward appearance of carefully restored period buildings,
with the bonus of state-of-the-art office interiors.”
Rob Newton, Director
of Lambert Smith Hampton, the sole letting/selling agent for the
site, added: “The finished buildings are even more impressive
than we expected and I certainly don’t expect them to remain
on the market for long.
“The site offers
ample car parking which is a boon for occupiers and a new road has
opened up access through Riverside Village via Piccadilly Road.
This all creates a site that is unrivalled in terms of out-of-town
office accommodation.”
