Following the success of the residential elements of Riverside Village at Hady Hill, Chesterfield, Shepherd Developments has invested in the restoration of the two character buildings fronting the busy A632 Hady Hill.

After eight months of intensive activity, the site is now very close to completion and is attracting attention from businesses in South Yorkshire and North East Derbyshire.

Shepherd Developments purchased the property together with the adjacent former Weighbridge House in 2000 as part of the larger site. The company then enlisted the help of Sheffield based Architects, Escafeld Design and Contractors, J T Construction, to ensure create a project that would see the Grade II listed property sympathetically restored to its former glory.

Dating back to 1906, the former Markham Building has seen the removal of a later extension, brick and stone cleaning, and the restoration and reproduction of the original sash windows to complete the authentic look.

In order to attract modern businesses into this thriving area of the town, which is a short walk from the main-line station as well as the town centre, internally, modern office fittings have been incorporated. These include; suspended ceilings, recessed CAT 2 lighting, new passenger lift, new toilets, disabled facilities and carpeting. Broadband connection is also available.
